Jalapeno Loco Mexican Restaurant
Jalapeño Loco opened in 1995 in a small location in Cudahy, WI as the dream of Hugo Saynes, along with his wife Janet, to open a Mexican Restaurant came to be. Hugo is from Oaxaca, Mexico where he grew up second oldest in a family of 12 and began by helping his mom cook for their family. Janet is from Bay View Milwaukee and began by cooking “tacos” on Sundays for her family. Hugo’s desire was to share what he knew to be the fine and diverse Mexican cuisine that to most Americans at that time were unknown. The love for Mexican culture and cuisine and the wish to share that with our clientele has been what has driven us all these years. As our restaurant became recognized by many people and the Milwaukee area food critics (Dennis Getto, The Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel; Jeff Beutner, Shepherd Express; and Ann Christenson, Milwaukee Magazine) we needed to physically grow. We were very fortunate to be able to relocate to our current location in 2000, directly across from Mitchell International Airport. Our new location also gave us the opportunity to continue to expand our menu. Our menu has been constantly changing and growing for the last 18 years and our excitement in sharing these new dishes hasn’t slowed. The creative aspect of the menu is driven by Hugo and Janet, who both thoroughly enjoy discovering new dishes. The response from our Jalapeño Loco family is desire to try what’s new and to request their favorites. Hugo, Janet, and the staff at Jalapeño Loco hope to meet you and to be able to share our joy of Mexican food and culture with you.
